Caselogic TBC-304 Compact Camcorder/High Zoom Camera Case (Black) Review

This is an almost perfect case (pouch, bag) to carry a Sigma compact DP1, DP1s or, I presume, DP2, DP2s, with the hood attached to the camera.
I checked quite a number of cases from Lowepro, Tamrac, Kata etc. and whatever I tried was either uncomfortably tight or would leave too much extra space and thus add bulk. This case is almost perfect: the camera with an attached Sigma HA-11 Hood slides in and out easily, especially if you replace the camera shoulder strap with a wrist one. It leaves almost no unused space except for 1 extra inch in height.
The manufacturer’s specifications state that it fits devices 4.6″ x 3.5″ x 3″, however, I find the dimensions posted on Amazon (5.5″ x 3.5″ x 2.5″) closer to the actuality. It will be difficult to fit in a 3.5″ x 3″ device mostly because the top flap will be in the way. I tried to fit my Panasonic FZ28 in this case and I did manage to squeeze it in, but it was quite difficult to pull it out, mostly because of the protruding eyepiece on the back of the camera. (FZ28/FZ35 owners consider Tamrac 3320: Tamrac 3320 Aero Zoom 20 Case (Black/Gray).)
The only major drawback of this case is the lack of a rain cover. I think if the case is exposed to rain water will easily get inside through the top flap zipper.
Each of the two pockets (one on the underside of the top flap 2.5″ x 3″ and one on the front 3″ x 4″) can easily hold extra items like 4 AA size batteries or such.
The shoulder strap is 1″ nylon webbing without padding, attaches to the case by snap connectors. There is also a small horizontal loop on the back which can be used for carrying the camera, but there is no belt loop.
Considering the price of this item I find the overall quality very good if not excellent.

Caselogic UNZ-3 Medium Universal Pocket w/Screen Protection (Blue/Silver) Review

I’ve been searching for a case for an ipod touch that would allow me to protect my investment, and at the same time, allow easy to access the device. Every case I investigated (mainly for screen protection) would not allow any external covers (no screen protection) to be used along with it. Bummer.

This case fits the bill beautifully! I can store the device in style (with a separate silicone grip case on the back of the device), carry it in my purse, and be sure the screen is protected. Further, other cases fit so tightly, that getting the device out of the case was nearly impossible. No this case…it is absolutely perfect. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS CASE, and the price is right as well…

Why pay upwards of $[...] at [...], risk using cases with magnetic closures (read eratic ipod performance near a magnet…) or impossible velcro spandex closures (which will wear out and lose their grip) when this case fills the bill!!

I have a separate cover, enchancing my grip on the device, then just put it back in this pocket when finished. Couldn’t be better… Great solution!

FYI–For the liner cover, the best I’ve seen is the “iPod Touch 2nd / 3rd Generation Silicone skin case cover 3G bundle, home / car charger, USB cable 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, 64GB (newest model) + Screen Guard” available via amazon. Great grip with a stand. Screen protector is trash, but the other items work well. Can’t beat the price on it either!

Caselogic SLRC-205 SLR Camera Sling (Black) Review

I’ve had this camera sling for two months now and have liked it, but not really appreciated it until today.

Today we went on a day hike in the mountains and that is where this sling suddenly made so much sense and made me realize how brilliant it was for that use compared to my old back pack.

The sling has strategically placed mesh pads to keep you from sweating too much where it contacts you. The case keeps the camera safe, and when it’s time to use it, you can easily slide the case forward and access the camera that is sitting safely in the hammock. Watching the other hikers have to work to get their cameras out of their back packs, or have their cameras exposed, just slung over their shoulders, made me a little smug today. I felt like I had the best solution and am now very glad I got one. Kudos to the designer(s).
